I am super excited to have received a Freiraum grant from the Aargauer Kuratorium to help fund the beginning phase of this orca project. This is a collaboration with composer and activist Alex Shapiro and other dedicated partners who research and lead advocacy efforts to protect the Southern Resident Killer Whales (SRKW's) whose home is the Salish Sea, the waters between British Columbia in Canada and Western Washington in the US. The work will be an immersive audio/visual electroacoustic performance for multiple flutes addressing and expressing various aspects of the orcas' families, their languages, their world under the water and the direct impact of our human world on them.
